INTRODUCTION

The aim of the

European Society of Contraception is to improve and facilitate knowledge and use

of contraception and reproductive health and to encourage relations between the

Society and appropriate organisations in Europe.

We look forward to seeing you at this exciting Congress to be held in

Edinburgh where the title of the 8th Congress of the European Society of

Contraception is to be ‘A holistic

approach to sexual  health : Is it

needed, appropriate and possible?’

During the conference we wish to explore this ‘holistic’ concept from the

perspective of consumers, providers and services. To achieve this we will be

having Keynote addresses and State of the Art sessions from experts in their

fields. We will also use Workshops, Forums, Free Communication sessions (18

topics) and Meet the Experts sessions (6 per day) which we want to be informal

and interactive. In addition there will be ample space for Posters and prizes

for the best Poster & Free Communication.

A wide variety of issues related to contraception, sexual and reproductive

health will be explored and discussed. The enclosed Scientific programme gives

the range of subjects to be covered and the list of distinguished speakers who

have agreed to take part.

As the capital

of Scotland, Edinburgh has been a seat of learning since the Middle Ages, the city combines a unique

blend of heritage, colour and culture. There are the quaint corners and alleyways of the Old Town, the

Georgian splendour of Charlotte Square, the dominating presence of the castle;

all different, all essentially Edinburgh. You will feel at home in this friendly

city!

The Congress evening will be held in the magnificent Royal Museum. We look

forward to receiving your abstracts and to welcoming you to the Congress in June

2004.
