family planning for women trainees who attend to the Mamak Public Training

Center.

Methods In the research that is cross-sectional a test, which included

in 14 questions about family planning concept and using contraception methods,

was used for determining the women’s educational needs on family planning. It

was conducted on item analysis in the scale development process. The test was

administered in 22 March 2002, without any sampling, to the 594 women trainees

who were older than 14 years old and literate. 78,3% of the target group was

responded in the research.

Results The family planning scores of the women were

at range between 0 and 13; average score was found that 5,64±0,15 (total score

is 14). There were statistically significant differences in the family planning

scores according to the age groups and marital status. But there were not

statistically significant differences in their scores according to their

educational status and the training course they wish to attend. 79,3% of the

women stated that they would like to attend a training program on the women

health.

Conclusion Although the family planning scores of the women differ

according to their marital status and educational status, in generally, the

scores were lower than expected average scores (7 point). This result was also

is important that some of the women have priority for training on family

planning, however, it was seen that all age groups need training on the issue.
