The administration criteria and the way of administration did

not modify the effectiveness and the security of the AHC

Contraception, Madrid, Spain

Objective, design and method The statement

indicated as the title of the poster was one of the most important conclusions

of the Conference of Consent carried out by the SEC in November 2005.

Conclusions Neither the criteria (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, …) nor

the way of administration (oral, percutaneous, intramuscular, vaginal, …)

build up factors that modify the results of the treatment with AHC, evaluating

the efficiency and the security of the same. According to the available

scientific evidence, none of the ways and none of the criteria improve the

results of the alternative options. The “studies” that voucher the

contrary either are of very low quality or are directly promoted by the

pharmaceutical industry. None of the criteria and none of the ways are of

high-priority clinical indication.

Also, in view of the scientific evidence, it

can be asserted that the changes in the menstrual cycle induced by the

contraceptive criteria lack any negative repercussions on the women’s health.
