Invitation 

 

The
Seminar Committee cordially invites all those involved in any aspect of
contraception
to participate actively by submitting an abstract for poster
presentation.

 

Poster
viewing sessions are planned during all breaks on both Seminar days.




Topics

Authors
must select one topic out of the 4 themes of the Seminar:
          – acceptability
and accessibility of contraceptive methods
– acceptability
and accessibility of abortion
– acceptability
and accessibility of emergency contraception
– acceptability
and accessibility of STI testing

Selection
procedure

 

Original
scientific material is welcome and should not have been previously published.
Abstracts presented at local, regional or national meetings may be submitted.

 

Abstracts
must reach the Seminar Secretariat not later than 31 July, 2003. Receipt of

the abstract will be confirmed in writing. Abstracts
will be reviewed (blind) by a panel of experts. A paper can only be selected

for poster presentation or may be rejected as there will be no
free communication
sessions.

 

Confirmation
of acceptance or rejection by the Seminar Committee will be mailed to
the
correspondence address given on the abstract form by 15 August, 2003.
Instructions
for poster preparation and display will be included in the confirmation.

 

Accepted
abstracts will be copied and inserted in the Seminar folder. The folder will

be available for the participants at the time of the Seminar.

 

Poster
award

 

The 3
best poster presentations will be awarded with a prize:

 

1st
prize: free registration to the ESC Congress 2004 (UK)

2nd
prize: 50% reduction to the ESC Congress 2004 (UK)

3rd
prize: two years free ESC membership

The award
will be handed over on Saturday, 13 September, at the end of the morning
session.

 

 

Abstract
preparation

Please
submit a text (maximum 500 words) before 31 July, 2003 and send it via
e-mail to the Seminar Secretariat, c/o the ESC Central Office.

Submission
instructions:

  1. Abstracts
    (and posters) should preferentially be prepared in English, but will be
    considered in Hungarian also.  

  2. Abstracts
    can only be submitted electronically. Abstracts sent by post will not be
    accepted, unless there is preliminary agreement from the Seminar Secretariat.

  3. Abstracts
    must be submitted as a word (.doc) file and sent as an attachment to [email protected] 
    together with the completed electronic abstract identification form available on
    this page.

  4. The
    abstract can be no longer than 30 lines (title, authors and affiliation not
    included).

  5. Presenting
    authors whose abstracts are accepted for presentation must register for the
    Seminar and pay the registration fee.

  6. Use
    standard abbreviations and place unusual ones in parentheses after the word
    first appears. Do not use abbreviations in the title.

  7. The title
    should contain the major key words of the presentation to aid in communicating
    its central message.

  8. The text of
    the abstract should briefly state:
     

    1. Objective(s):
      indicate the purpose of the study or the hypothesis that was tested.

    2. Design
      & Methods
      : include the setting for the study, the subjects (number and
      type), the diagnosis or intervention, and type of statistical analysis. 
      If references are needed, they should be given in the text.

    3. Results:
      present as clearly as possible the outcome of the study and statistical
      significance if appropriate.

    4. Conclusions: briefly discuss the data and
      emphasize the significance of the
      results.

Typing
instructions

  1. Type the
    abstract in small letters ( Times 11).

  2. Abstracts
    must be submitted as a word (.doc) file and can be no longer than 30 lines (title,
    authors and affiliation not included).

  3. Type the
    title of the abstract in bold in sentence case on the first line.

  4. Write the
    name(s) of author(s) with initials preceding the last name, institution(s), city
    and country. Underline the name of the presenting author only.

  5. Double-space between the heading and the text of the abstract.

  6. Type the
    text single-spaced with no paragraphs or indentations, using the full width of
    the document.

  7. Avoid the
    use of symbols.

  8. Please
    ensure that your abstract does not contain any errors of spelling, grammar or
    scientific facts as it will be reproduced exactly as you type it.
